Attack the Attacks

A Quick Look into Mentor Calls

Published on July 16, 2015 in Attack the Attacks

Here’s how a You, Me, and HAE Mentor call works:

  1. Start with a list of questions. For example, maybe you’re planning a trip and looking to hear a Mentor’s experiences traveling with their treatment. The list can be one, two, or more questions long!
  2. Once you have compiled the list, you can either contact  OnePath® at 1-866-888-0660 or register online at www.firazyr.com/event and select You, Me, and HAE
  3. Someone will reach out to you to set up a call with one of the HAE mentors, a real person (like me) who has HAE, shares the challenges of acute HAE attacks, and uses FIRAZYR® (icatibant injection) (a medicine used to treat acute attacks of HAE in adults 18 years of age and older)

On these calls, people with HAE are able to ask me specific questions, and I am able to answer them sharing my personal experiences with HAE and treating my attacks. It’s as simple as that, and I can say that, from my end as a Mentor, I believe the calls can be a helpful experience.

The people I have spoken with are relieved to learn they are not alone with HAE and grateful for the information to guide them through their own treatment journey.

So I encourage others to always talk with their doctors and if you want to speak with a Mentor, jot down your questions and set up a call.

If you and your doctor decide that FIRAZYR might be the right treatment option for you, he or she can request a single dose of FIRAZYR as a sample for you to try.
